Jurgen Klopp has picked out Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as one player who blew him away during a 3-1 win for Liverpool over Osasuna last night.

The Reds rounded off their pre-season campaign with a comfortable win in front of their home fans at Anfield.

It’s been a frustrating 12 months for Oxlade-Chamberlain. He spent a lot of last season out injured and was subsequently left to play catch up.

This time around though he’s enjoyed a full pre-season and clearly Klopp thinks that will benefit the versatile performer.

He told the club’s official website: “I thought Ox was on fire!

“The counter-pressing with Bobby (Firmino) and Oxlade was just really good and how it should be.

“It definitely helps when you are part of the sessions and you play in the game. Hopefully, he can stay fit and if they do, he can help us this season in a really positive way.”

This season could be a make or break one for Oxlade-Chamberlain at Liverpool. He has endured some rotten luck with injuries and his versatility could help.

Last season he struggled badly. He made just 17 appearances, registering just two goal contributions.

A knee injury did rule him out of pre-season through and it was a constant battle to return to full fitness.

The pre-season campaign will have helped no end though and he’ll be raring to go this season.

At 27 there is time on his side and Oxlade-Chamberlain will hope to earn a place in the team when Liverpool travel to Norwich this weekend.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could be Liverpool surprise package this season

The ex-Arsenal man has the ability but the fact he has proved injury prone has hampered his Anfield progress.

He could be an ideal option from the bench this season and with Liverpool fighting for silverware on four fronts, he should play plenty of games.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has a point to prove and that could make him a very dangerous player in the Liverpool ranks this season.
