Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expects Fabinho and Joel Matip to be back in the squad for tomorrow’s visit from Manchester United.
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website in his pre-match press conference that the pair trained normally this week and should boost his ranks.
He said: “Yes, it looks like Joel and Fabinho [will be back]. They trained completely normally yesterday and the day before. So that means they are likely to be in the squad.
“The other three not, but they are getting closer and closer. Dejan, I think, will train 100 per cent from Monday on.
“With the other two [Keita and Milner], I don’t know exactly. I cannot rush it so when somebody tells me they are ready, I take them back in training.”
TBR’s View – No need to rush either back from the start against United
In days gone by, where Liverpool and United were evenly matched, or the Reds were even behind in the chase for the title, their manager might rush key players back.
But now they are so clearly superior to United and even a shock defeat at Anfield wouldn’t really put much of a dent in their title challenge.
That means Klopp doesn’t have to risk starting either player, allowing them to be eased back into action instead.
There’s every chance Liverpool will be comfortably ahead in the second half if Klopp wants to give one or both a substitute appearance to get their legs moving again and delight the Anfield crowd.
