Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has heaped tremendous praise on his number two goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
The 31-year-old has been on the fringes for the Reds this campaign and made just two appearances across all competitions, but is viewed as an important part of the dressing room.
Alisson Becker has come in this season at Anfield to become the number one option in goal and the Brazilian has done a tremendous job.
He’s played every Premier League game to help the Merseyside club with their title bid and has also been in net for the run to the Champions League semi-finals.
Mignolet got starts in both domestic cup competitions, but unfortunately they were knocked out in both third rounds by Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.
The Belgian shot-stopper has mainly had to watch on from the sidelines and wait in reserve in case of an Alisson injury.
Klopp is adamant that Mignolet is the best number two goalkeeper in the English top-flight and feels he’s getting better.
“I’m sure he thinks of himself as a number one but he’s the best number two in the Premier League,” Klopp said in his press conference, as cited by the Liverpool Echo
“He has improved in the last year because of his professionalism and his attitude. It’s just brilliant.

TBR’s View:
Liverpool signed Mignolet for £9million (BBC) back in 2013 and he’s certainly had his highs and lows at Anfield.
His inconsistency eventually cost him the number one position, but he’s played his part behind the scenes this campaign within the group and also training with teammate Alisson.
The 31-year-old has to be praised for his professionalism and it highlights a real strong mentality in the Liverpool squad right now.
Klopp’s team are one points Manchester City with three games left to play and have a two-legged semi-final tie with Barcelona ahead of them.
