Wow': Klopp says he was stunned by how good one Liverpool player was in training when he was just 15

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has been speaking in his press conference today ahead of this weekend and has reserved special praise for his young midfielder, Curtis Jones.

The Reds take on Crystal Palace this weekend looking to build on the success of last night’s win over Arsenal which sent to Wembley for the EFL Cup final. Liverpool saw off the Gunners thanks to two Diogo Jota goals, and can get their hands on the season’s first piece of major silverware in February.

Emerging in the Liverpool ranks in recent seasons has been midfielder, Curtis Jones. And speaking about the youngster today, Klopp admitted he’s had his eye on Jones for some time.

One Player Who Should REJECT Your Club

“I saw him out my office when I first joined and thought ‘Wow, how old is he?’. He was 15. We couldn’t have won the game last night without good individual performances and Curtis was one of them,” Klopp told his presser today.

Jones has recently returned from injury and played a key role for the Reds last night. Still only 20, Jones has made more than 60 appearances for Liverpool already. Along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott, and Joe Gomez, the midfielder is part of a strong young English contingent at the club.

TBR’s View: Jones Can Be Liverpool’s Midfield For Years

Klopp was right to be impressed by Jones as a young teenager and now everyone is seeing what the Liverpool boss saw in those early days.

Jones seems to be growing with each passing week and it surely won’t be long before he’s the main man in the Liverpool midfield on a weekly basis. Certainly, if he produces like he did last night, then the future is bright.

Things are looking good for Liverpool’s future. And Curtis Jones can be front and centre of that success.
