Jurgen Klopp lavishes praise on consistent Liverpool ace

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has sung the praises of goalkeeper Alisson, as the Reds prepare to do battle against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final Premier League game of the season.

The title is still alive for the Reds, who are one point behind Manchester City who face Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Liverpool will need to beat Wolves at Anfield and hope the Seagulls can hold the reigning champions if they are to claim a first league title for 29 years.

Whatever happens it’s been a truly amazing title race, and Liverpool are due some serious credit for bridging the gap between themselves and City.

One man who has genuinely transformed Liverpool into title contenders is Alisson.

The stopper was signed for a huge outlay of £67 million (Sky Sports), but is on the brink of winning the Golden Glove in his first season – he is currently tied with Ederson on 20 each.

Speaking about the Brazilian number one, Klopp gushed (quoted by The Liverpool Echo): “Alisson is a wonderful goalkeeper – the only thing is that he makes spectacular things look really easy.

“He deserves all the plaudits because sometimes I don’t understand how he is able to get a part of his body behind the ball.”

TBR’s view

If Liverpool manage to get the job done then Alisson will have been a major factor.

The former AS Roma man has breathed new confidence into a once shaky backline, and has just been solid between the sticks for the Reds.

Eyebrows were of course raised when Liverpool paid what they did, but nobody is questioning the fee now.

Virgil van Dijk has received most of the plaudits for Liverpool’s amazing season, but the importance of Alisson’s contributions mustn’t be overstated.
