Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gave his captain Jordan Henderson huge praise after his performance on Thursday night in the win over Sheffield United.

The Reds outclassed their opponents at Anfield to win 2-0 in the Premier League, with usual suspects Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scoring the goals.

It means that the Merseyside giants have won 19 and drawn one of their 20 league games so far, which has helped them open up a 13-point gap above second-placed Leicester City.

Liverpool were far too strong at home against Sheffield United and they dominated in the centre of the park.

Henderson helped pull the strings from the deep-lying midfield role with his intensity and quality on the ball, something that earned him a special mention from his manager after the win.

“Yes, he’s exceptional. Yes, he’s outstanding. If anybody who is with us doesn’t see the quality of Jordan Henderson, I can’t help,” Klopp said, as quoted by the club’s official website.

“Is Hendo the perfect player? No. Do I know anybody who is? No. Is he unbelievably important to us? Yes.”

Henderson isn’t deemed one of the star names in a Liverpool team packed with them, but he’s really underlying his importance to the group this season and he’s got to be one of the most underrated players in the Premier League.

He’s a pivotal cog in the Klopp system and has shown he can play a number of different roles too.

The central midfielder can boss matches from deeper on a regular basis and has helped fill the shoes of injured teammate, while earlier in the season he was playing a box-to-box role to great effect.

There is no denying his incredible work-rate to the Liverpool side and he is a shining example to others around him.
