Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised midfielder Jordan Henderson, who has shown his versatility in recent games to great effect on the pitch.
Henderson is the Reds captain that always plays as a central midfielder and is renowned for his tireless energy over the park.
But Klopp has highlighted the 29-year-old’s flexibility in recent games, which has seen him prove himself in the league against Manchester United and Tottenham.
The England international has made an in-game switch to a wider role on the right flank and he popped up with the winner during the most recent league fixture against Spurs.
He did play as a winger in the early stages of his career and has thrown back the years, but is usually a part of the engine room in the Liverpool midfield.
“He has been very good. I like what he is doing. Very important for us against Man Utd and Spurs. We adapted a bit to their formations, that’s why he played a bit wider,” Klopp said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“Not a general position [for him]. He has had more freedom than a No.6.”

TBR’s View:
Henderson is nowhere near the most eye-catching player in the Liverpool ranks, but he does a lot of the ugly work for his team and is underrated by many outside of Anfield.
There is a lot of competition for places in the squad for the midfield areas and it’s a great string for Henderson to have to his bow of moving into different positions.
He’s continuing to play an important role in the Reds XI and it seems likely he will return to the team against Aston Villa on Sunday, after sitting out the dramatic penalty win over Arsenal in midweek in the Carabao Cup.
