Junior Firpo offers insight into depth of Leeds analysis

Junior Firpo has told DAZN that he has already watched more analysis videos at Leeds than during his time at Barcelona – despite only being at Elland Road for a handful of weeks.

Junior sealed a £13 million move to the Whites in early July. It appeared to be a real coup for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.

His arrival addressed Leeds’ lack of depth at left-back. But it also saw the Premier League side land a player who had spent the previous two years at the Nou Camp.

Barca are obviously one of the biggest clubs in the world. But it seems that one aspect of the game was ramped up considerably for Junior following his switch to Elland Road.

“I’ve been here for two weeks and I’ve seen more individual videos than in two years at Barça,” he told DAZN. “They explain to you the way they want you to play and what they want you to do, and that means they take care of it in detail.

“They have studied you to tell you how you have to behave in each action. That draws attention, it is a very different way of working.”

His spell in Catalonia did not play out how Junior would have hoped. However, there is absolutely no shame in being the player behind Jordi Alba in the pecking order.

If Leeds can get the best out of Junior, the £13 million deal will quickly look like a masterstroke.

He is still young enough to improve further. Barca agreed to pay up to £25 million when they signed him from Real Betis.

And clearly, Leeds are giving him the best chance of being prepared for what is to come this season.
