Junior Firpo makes Liverpool claim after Leeds move
Junior Firpo has told Live Now that Liverpool are the team that he is looking forward to playing most following the left-back’s move to Leeds United this summer.
Firpo became the Whites’ first marquee addition of the window. As noted by the Daily Mail, he has arrived in a £13 million deal.
It looks to be a huge coup for Leeds. It says a lot that players such as Ivan Rakitic were amongst those to send messages to the 24-year-old on social media following the announcement of his arrival.
Of course, Firpo will be looking to help Leeds navigate their way through their second year back in the Premier League.
The expectations will have increased. And they will be hoping to produce some more superb results against the big sides in the top flight.
Obviously, the highlight came when they beat Manchester City with 10 men. But they also beat Spurs, and were unbeaten against Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool at Elland Road.
It was in the reverse fixture with the latter however, that Leeds put the league on notice.
The Whites pushed the Reds all the way at Anfield before a late penalty saw the then-champions win 4-3 on the opening day.
‘I want to play there’: Firpo excited for Liverpool clash after Leeds move
Leeds will be looking for a similar performance once again this year. And for Firpo, the fixture represents the most exciting game on the calendar.
The defender was recently asked which team he was most looking forward to facing. And he went on to pick out Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“Maybe Liverpool,” he told Live Now. “Liverpool at Anfield is a really good atmosphere. They have really, really good fans. I always see on the TV all the fans singing You’ll Never Walk Alone so I want to play there.”
