‘Judging by the way Tottenham play’… Paul Merson predicts Everton v Spurs result

Tottenham Hotspur face a quick turnaround in Premier League fixtures as they prepare to take on Everton in Saturday’s early kickoff.

Spurs played on Wednesday evening, running out 3-2 winners over Brentford in a topsy-turvy game in which they came from behind to triumph.

That result put Tottenham back into the top four of the table, and they’ll hope to stay there come 2:30pm on Saturday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou’s charges take on an Everton side that slipped into the bottom three following a goalless draw with Fulham.

Paul Merson, writing on Sportskeeda, has predicted a 2-2 draw between Spurs and Everton, describing it as a “really interesting game” and predicting “a lorry load of goals”.

The pundit wrote: “Everton are suddenly in the relegation zone, so this is a crucial game for them.

“Tottenham had a great 10-15 minute spell to turn the game on its head against Brentford, but the way they play, they tend to leave a lot of open space at the back.

“This is a really interesting game of football and judging by the way Tottenham play, I think we’re going to see a few goals.

“I can see a lorry load of goals here, so I’m going for a 2-2 draw.”

Tottenham can focus on Premier League in pursuit of top-four finish

Tottenham have had a mixed month, remaining unbeaten in the Premier League with a win and a draw, but suffering elimination from the FA Cup.

That ended Spurs’ most likely chance of getting a trophy this season, but on the plus side, they can concentrate on the league now.

And after finishing outside of the European places altogether last term, it’s imperative that they get back into Europe, ideally the Champions League.

Tottenham are certainly on track for that, considering how quickly Postecoglou has turned things round in terms of performances, results, signings and overall pulling power.
