Jude Bellingham was amongst those to respond to James Maddison on social media after the Tottenham Hotspur star poked fun at Neal Maupay on Wednesday night.
Spurs played their part in another brilliant game in the Premier League this season. A stunning start to the second-half saw Ange Postecoglou’s side come from 1-0 down to lead 3-1. Brentford would set up a nervy finish with a second goal. But Tottenham got a huge three points.
It is fair to say that Tottenham were fired up by Brentford’s antics during the first-half. The Bees seemed desperate to frustrate the home side. And when Neal Maupay broke the deadlock, he infuriated the Tottenham fans by performing James Maddison‘s celebration along with Ivan Toney.

Maupay absolutely loves to annoy rival players and fans, it seems. So it was no surprise that he was prepared to mimic Maddison. But perhaps it was not the smartest idea given how early in the game the goal came.

And it is certainly not a shock to see Maddison mock Maupay in response. On Instagram, the Tottenham co-vice-captain posted what he described as a short story, with the first image showing Maupay celebrating, and the third displaying the final score.

Tottenham recover from frustrating first-half
It appeared that Brentford’s tactics were going to work. You could feel the frustration building inside in the stadium. And there were times when an unambitious pass would not be viewed positively by the fans.
But Tottenham were a different animal in the second-half. It is a further reminder that Ange Postecoglou’s side are never beaten.
Perhaps Maupay should have remembered that when he scored 15 minutes in.
