Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos has been discussing the future of his former Spurs star Gareth Bale with EFE, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. Given his place as a former Spurs and Real Madrid manager his opinion was obviously sought.

However, he also had some things to say about current Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino. Ramos, who is hopeful Tottenham can win the Champions League title on June 1st, explained how the Champions League final can help Tottenham keep both Pochettino and his best players at Spurs next season.

“I think the final is at 50 percent, I would like Tottenham to win, but Liverpool will be a very tough and very strong opponent and they also know each other from the Premier League. It will be a beautiful final and I hope Tottenham will be the winner.

“There is not only one reason to see Tottenham in the final. The continuity of Pochettino is clearly important, as is not selling his great players. The team is very solid and in the last two qualifying rounds he had the bit of luck you need to access the final and I think he deserves it.”

There have been numerous suggestions that Pochettino could head out of Tottenham this summer.

The Argentine has not helped matters. At times, he has suggested that winning the Champions League title could be the pinnacle of his Tottenham career. Indeed, as reported by The Guardian, he hinted at that possibility earlier this month.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will clearly have to back Pochettino in the transfer market if he is to convince him to remain at Spurs beyond the final in Madrid next month.

Ramos, who is the last man to win a trophy as Tottenham manager, wants Pochettino to end that reign. He also wants what all Tottenham fans want. For Pochettino to stick around afterwards.
