Tottenham’s chances of signing Villarreal defender Pau Torres may reportedly hinge on the potential sale of Harry Kane.
Athletic journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke reports that Spurs are hoping to bring in two new signings before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.
Inter Milan centre-forward Lautaro Martinez is a “top target”. Also, the north London club could try bring in either a centre-back or another right-back to strengthen the defensive options.
However, he reckons that it could be financially difficult to secure a second deal. He suggests that a transfer for 24-year-old defender Torres may only happen if Kane is sold by Spurs.
This update comes at a time when The Times reports Spurs are ready to press ahead with a move for Villarreal’s centre-back. They claim Torres has a £55.4 million release clause with the Spanish La Liga club, but Spurs hope they can sort a deal for a cheaper fee.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reports Manchester City are preparing a new bid of €150million (£127.6million) for Kane.

Pau Torres deal would be amazing for Tottenham
Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo needs to make big improvements to his team’s defence to be successful this season.
Cristian Romero has already joined from Atalanta to improve the centre-back options, something that Torres would similarly do. A Romero-Torres combination is one on paper that looks an exciting one.
It sounds like Spurs will need the Kane transfer to happen if they want to strengthen other areas of the pitch/
