Arsenal have been linked with Ruben Neves in recent weeks.

And Dean Jones reckons the Wolves ace is “hoping deep down” that a big club will sign him at the end of the season.

The journalist made the claim on GiveMeSport amid reported Gunners interest and talk of a new Wolves contract.

In February, The Sun claimed Arsenal have identified Neves as one of three key summer targets.

Mohamed Elneny is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season as his contract expires.

Meanwhile, the Gunners could potentially also sell Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

In addition, Roma are reportedly planning to make another move for Granit Xhaka.

“He’s going right to the top”

Meanwhile, Neves has once again been in absolutely stunning form this season.

“He’s a terrific player,” Jamie Redknapp said on Sky Sports – via the Daily Mail – in 2020.

“I’m such a fan of Neves and the way he can just control the midfield.

“He can defend he can attack, he’s so talented.

“He can do it at Wolves but I think he’s going right to the top of the game, it’s effortless for him.”

The Portugal international is currently recovering from a medial collateral ligament injury to his knee.

Wolves are hoping Neves will be back in action by May for the closing stages of the season.

The Sun has also claimed that the West Midlanders have opened contract talks with the 25-year-old.

However, the outlet also reckons the Molineux outfit could cash in on him if he doesn’t pen fresh terms.

The £50million-rated midfielder has a contract at Wolves until the summer of 2024.

And Jones believes Neves is holding back from extending his contract because he wants to seal a move away from Wolves.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “I think he is hoping deep down that there is a big offer from a big club that takes him away.”
