Journalist suggests Leeds are indeed interested in Javier Galan
Leeds United do indeed hold an interest in Huesca defender, Javier Galan, according to respected journalist, Graham Smyth.
Smyth, who writes regularly for the Yorkshire Evening Post on all things Leeds, was speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast.
The question around Galan, who has been relegated with Huesca this season, was always going to arise. And when the flying left-back was mentioned, Smyth confirmed he is a player of interest.
“This week there’s been a lot of talk about Javier Galan from Huesca. They were relegated this season and he has a release clause,” Smyth said.
“He wasn’t the one Victor Orta was speaking to at the weekend, but I do believe he’s someone they like. He’s a good presser, a good tackler and he has sensational numbers when it comes to dribbling, and you have to take into account that those stats were from a relegation team, so playing in a better side you’d expect an uplift in those numbers.”
Galan has been linked with a move to Elland Road throughout the last few days. Reports in Spain were picked up by the English press and, subsequently, ran.
Leeds are said to be in the market for new players. Further, left-back Gjanni Alioski faces an uncertain future, meaning Galan could be ideal.
Javier Galan to Leeds makes all kind of sense
In terms of looking in from the outside, Galan would appear to be everything Leeds look for. He’s quick, he’s aggressive, and he loves to get forward from full-back.
If he’s available for the bargain fee some are talking about, then it could really be a no-brainer for the Whites.
Leeds need to ensure they build on their success this summer. Signing somene like Galan, then, might be the ideal start to the window.
