Journalist suggests ‘fantastic’ defender won’t be joining Arsenal this summer

Arsenal are looking to sign a new defender this summer.

The Gunners are looking for a new left-sided defender, hence the recent links to the likes of Riccardo Calafiori.

However, perhaps the defender who has been most strongly linked to Arsenal is Jorrel Hato.

The Ajax youngster has been linked with the Gunners for around 18 months now, and heading into this summer, there was speculation that Mikel Arteta’s side could step up their interest.

Unfortunately, as much as Arsenal like Hato, it sounds as though this deal is a non-starter heading into this window as Ben Jacobs shared an update on NUFC Matters.

Arsenal unlikely to sign Jorell Hato

Jacobs stated that the ‘fantastic’ defender looks set to stay at Ajax.

“There’s a trend at the moment with Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal looking at this left-sided defender. Arsenal wanted Jorrel Hato but the expectation is that he will stay at Ajax, he is a centre-back who can play at left-back,” Jacobs said.

Jorrel Hato still one to watch

Arsenal may not sign Jorell Hato in this transfer window, but the Dutchman remains one to watch.

Indeed, Arsenal are said to be very keen on Hato, and at the age of just 18, they have plenty of time to prepare an approach for either January or next summer.

Hato is a very talented player, he’s already playing a key role for Ajax, and his ability to play at either left-back or centre-back makes him an ideal addition to this Arsenal side.

Arsenal are long-term planners in the transfer market these days, and while they may not be able to sign Hato in this window, it wouldn’t be a shock if the Gunners did eventually land the defender.

Hato’s his potential may lead him to joining a club in a top league that can challenge for major honours, and maybe one day he could end up at the Emirates.
