Newcastle United could be set for some last-minute transfer drama after Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s recent meeting with the Magpies.
The Toon chairman has been key to Eddie Howe’s success at Newcastle, with the PIF governer one of the main players in Saudi Arabia’s takeover bid for the Premier League side back in 2021.
Yet due to FFP restrictions, Newcastle’s spending has been limited this January, with the Tyneside club yet to make any major moves in the market, but that could soon be about to change.

According to the Daily Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, there could be a flurry of activity in the transfer market at Newcastle after Al-Rumayyan’s meeting with the Premier League side in recent days.
Edwards said: “It is my understanding that Yasir Al-Rumayyan has been in the UK the last couple of days, speaking to Newcastle’s board. Are they going to sanction a big-money move?
“The money would come from Saudi Arabia’s public investment fund but whatever Newcastle do now will come off their summer budget. I would expect Newcastle are the club who will give us the most drama and the most intrigue as we head towards deadline day.”
Yasir Al-Rumayyan could help Newcastle in a big way this January

Even with the financial backing of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, there’s only so much Al-Rumayyan can do for Newcastle in the closing stages of the January transfer window.
However, that’s not to say that the Saudi official is completely useless, and Al-Rumayyan could assist Newcastle in a big way if the Toon can loosen up their FFP restrictions.
An outgoing will open the door for Newcastle to finally conduct some business this month, and the Magpies will want to bring in a top-class player in their effort to qualify for Europe.
And Al-Rumayyan can help with that, with the PIF figurehead seemingly keen to help out at Newcastle and to provide funds that will aid the Toon in the market.
