Chelsea can’t seem to escape drama at the moment.
Over the past two years, the club has been an absolute circus, and even as things start to look-up on the pitch, there’s still an underlayer of drama.
Indeed, Chelsea picked up their best result of the season last week as they won 6-0 against Everton, but even that victory was overshadowed by some infighting between their own players over who should take a penalty.
Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Conor Gallagher all had a bit of a ruck on the pitch over who should take the penalty against Everton, and, apparently, the infighting didn’t stop there.

What happened after Chelsea vs Everton penalty incident
Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Alex Crook spoke about this incident, and he says that his understanding is that the arguments continued into the dressing room after the game.
“It’s interesting isn’t it? He tried to suggest that they’d kissed and made up after the embarrassing incident during the Everton game. That’s not my understanding. My understanding is that it did spill over into the dressing room. Conor Gallagher amongst others and Madueke, who made a fool of himself, were still going at it,” Crook said.
Chelsea need to get a grip
There are no two ways about it, this is embarrassing.
Players on the same team should always be on the same page, and squabbling over something as stupid as a penalty is ridiculous.
It’s nothing short of selfishness, these players only wanted to take the penalty to pad their own stats rather than helping the team towards victory.
We can only hope that these issues have been put to one side now, because, if this continues, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad will continue to find it difficult to build any sort of momentum.
