Arsenal are being linked with new midfield signings this month.
The likes of Douglas Luiz and Joao Palhinha have both been linked to the Gunners in recent times, while over the past 48 hours or so, Amadou Onana has been named as a supposed concrete target.
Reports have suggested that Arsenal are serious about signing Onana from Everton. However, according to Charles Watts, speaking on his YouTube channel, this deal isn’t as far along as some would have you believe.

Onana to Arsenal not progressed
Watts shared what he knows about the midfielder.
“In terms of this month, from what I’m told, the reports about intensive talks and that stuff, that’s not what I’m hearing, put it that way. Things could change, I would never sit here and rule it out, but I don’t think it’s as concrete as you may have thought by reading some of what you were reading,” Watts said.
Difficult
It’s not all that shocking to hear that this deal isn’t progressed.
Onana has been valued at a huge figure by Everton in the past, and money is tight at Arsenal right now.
After spending over £200m in the summer, Arsenal are really tight when it comes to FFP restrictions – that’s why they had to sign David Raya on loan rather than a permanent deal initially.
It would be a massive shock if Arsenal did find the money to go and sign someone like Onana this month, especially when there are more pressing issues in the team when it comes to signing a new centre-forward.
Onana may well be a player that Arsenal admire, and as Watts says, you can’t completely rule this one out, but, by the sounds of it, this deal is nowhere near as close as some would have you believe.
This is one to keep half an eye on, but we’d advise against getting your hopes up at this point.
