Arsenal suffered a serious transfer blow this week as Benjamin Sesko committed his future to RB Leipzig.

The Slovenian striker was said to be one of the Gunners’ top transfer targets, but, sadly, the attacker won’t be headed to the Emirates this summer.

So, after missing out on Sesko, what do Arsenal do? Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing Arsenal’s plans after missing out on Sesko, and he’s heard something interesting from behind the scenes at Arsenal.

What Dean Jones has heard from Arsenal

The journalist shared what he’s heard about Arsenal behind-the-scenes after missing out on Sesko.

“In fact I think that Arsenal might not even sign a forward yet, I think they might hold off. They were going to go for Sesko just because that clause was active now. I’ve also hear that behind the scenes they’re working on something else. I’m trying to work out exactly what that is. I think it could be a versatile frontman who can play across the front line,” Jones said.

Arsenal will struggle to act quickly

It’s very frustrating that the Sesko deal fell through as, now, Arsenal may have to wait a few weeks to get that first signing through the door.

Indeed, with the Euros and the Copa America about to kick off, many of the players Arsenal would be looking to sign will be tied up on international duty.

The reality is that in these summers when international tournaments take centre stage, transfer business has to be pushed back, and that may mean that Arsenal aren’t able to get this Sesko alternative through the door for a few weeks yet.

As always, this summer transfer window will have plenty of twists and turns, but, by the sounds of it, Arsenal do already have a bit of a plan in place after missing out on Sesko.
