Journalist shares what he's been told Harry Kane was doing on the bench while Tottenham were playing Wolves
Alasdair Gold has told the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was shouting from the dugout encouraging his teammates against Wolves on Sunday.
Cheering them on
Kane’s future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with the saga surrounding him verging on ridiculous at times.
Kane’s delayed arrival for training caused the rumours to ramp up even further recently and also meant that he was unavailable for Tottenham’s first two competitive games of the season.
However, Kane finally made an appearance for Spurs at Molineux on Sunday.
And interestingly it seems that he was still doing everything in his power to help Tottenham to win, even from the bench.
Indeed Gold says that he has heard from his sources that Kane was very vocal on the sidelines, as he played his part in helping Spurs pick up a 1-0 victory in the Midlands.
“I felt he tried. I wouldn’t say he was throwing himself around, but I felt that he was trying,” Gold said.
“He had a yellow card for time wasting and from what I understand he was also shouting from the dugout before he came on, encouraging his teammates.
“It just makes me wonder whether he’s starting to realise that ‘I might be here for another season’.”
Kane did indeed put in a good shift after being brought on, although most his work was done off the ball.
Kane pressed Wolves’ defenders intently, and showed a willingness to work for his teammates, despite not knowing whether he will still be a Tottenham player next month.
The England captain actually could have scored when he was slipped through by Steven Bergwijn but he, perhaps, showed a bit of rustiness when he was unable to convert the chance.
Kane actually was serenaded off the pitch by the travelling Spurs fans, with the striker applauding the supporters in return.
And as the transfer window edges closer and closer to shutting, it seems more and more likely that Kane will be at Tottenham for at least another season now.
