Journalist shares Isak stance on potential Arsenal move

Dean Jones has told The Football Terrace that he has been told that Alexander Isak is not that interested in moving to Arsenal with the Gunners eyeing the Real Sociedad striker.

Mikel Arteta’s men look set to miss out on one of their key targets for this window. As noted by Sky Sports, Dusan Vlahovic is now in talks with Juventus. And it was suggested that a bid from Arsenal has not been considered.

The upside for the Gunners is that it appears that they had not put all of their striker eggs in one basket. They have been linked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin. And they also have their eye on Isak.

Isak has not been as prolific for Real Sociedad this term. However, he scored 17 times in La Liga this year. And he shone for Sweden at Euro 2020. One of his displays at the tournament was labelled ‘exceptional‘ by Gary Lineker.

It was claimed this week that Arsenal are now actively pursuing a deal for Isak. He apparently has a release clause of around £58 million in his contract.

However, Jones has suggested that there is one big hurdle to clear, with the journalist claiming that Isak has reservations about moving to the Emirates.

“Alex Isak, I’m told, isn’t actually that interested in joining Arsenal at the moment. Not necessarily just Arsenal, I think he’s a bit cagey about the Premier League generally,” he told The Football Terrace.

“And if he does come, he wants to be absolutely sure that it’s a good fit for him. Like Vlahovic, he’s sceptical that Arsenal is the right stepping stone for him at this moment in his career.”

Arsenal fans may not mind Isak being reluctant about move

Isak could have a brilliant future. His form last season was a sign of what he can do. And he is only 22. So he could improve a lot in the years to come.

Arsenal have done some brilliant business in recent months. They have landed a number of talented younger players a few years from their peak. And Isak fits into that mould.

However, he previously struggled with Borussia Dortmund. And his record this season is underwhelming. So if he has doubts about joining Arsenal, the signs are ominous.

Of course, Arsenal could really do with a new striker this month. But it would appear that their interest in Isak may lead to nothing.
