Journalist says Tottenham have just made a signing with absolutely 'extraordinary qualities'

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a fruitful summer on the transfer front, bringing in seven new players.

Destiny Udogie is the latest of those to go on the books at Spurs.

Tottenham announced the signing of the 19-year-old earlier this week.

Spurs fans won’t see Udogie in lilywhite just yet though – he’ll remain at Udinese for the season.

Udogie may not be the most high-profile Tottenham signing this summer, but he certainly looks like a future star.

Journalist Gianluigi Longari has described the youngster’s departure from Udinese’s books as a “significant loss”.

Speaking to Calcio In Pillole, he also backed Udogie to do “very well” thanks to his “extraordinary qualities”.

“Absolute predestined for the role he has to fill”

Longari was asked whether Udogie will be a ‘regret’ for Serie A, as he could end up ‘exploding’ in the Premier League with Tottenham.

“Yes,” he replied, as translated by Sport Witness.

“It is an important loss, which testifies once again how the Premier has other investments, as well as scouting activities.

“The difference with Serie A is the possibility of spending. Udogie is a significant loss and will certainly do very well because he has extraordinary qualities.

“Being so young, he is an absolute predestined for the role he has to fill.

“The fact he is already going to Tottenham? His season at Udinese will absolutely not be affected.

“Udogie is a young man who cannot afford to have his head already elsewhere.

“He will want to arrive at Tottenham with the credentials of being a potential starter, not only with the young man’s esteem.

“They pay 20 million plus bonuses for him, they will already have certainties about his qualities. Another year in Udine can only do him good.”

Udogie progressed through the ranks at Hellas Verona, making his professional debut in November 2020.

The following year, he joined Udinese on loan, a deal which turned permanent in July 2022.

In his debut season with the Italian side, Udogie made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals.
