Journalist says rumour about £10m Liverpool player is simply false

Liverpool weren’t all that busy in the summer transfer window as they just made made just two signings.

However, the business Liverpool did pull off was rather impressive as they signed Federico Chiesa for a bargain fee of £10m.

Of course, when a player like Chiesa is on the market for a fee of just £10m, there are bound to be numerous clubs interested.

Several clubs across Europe were linked to Chiesa, including Bayern Munich, however, speaking on the FC Bayern Insider Podcast, Christian Falk has now noted that those links weren’t true.

Bayern Munich weren’t interested in Federico Chiesa

Falk shared what he knows about the winger.

“FC Bayern were interested in Chiesa, is that true or not true?” Falk was asked.

“That is not true. I heard his advisor offered him a job at Bayern Munich before the Liverpool deal went through, but Bayern weren’t interested. They already had Michael Olise – he’s a funny guy who doesn’t talk very much, his press conferences are already legendary,” Falk said.

Bayern Munich didn’t need Chiesa

Bayern Munich weren’t interested in signing Chiesa this summer, and for good reason.

Bayern already have too many wingers in their squad as it is. In fact, they were actually trying to sell Kingsley Coman before deadline day.

Adding another winger to this squad would’ve been overkill, and Chiesa wouldn’t have got the gametime he deserves if he joined Bayern.

That said, for £10m, this is a deal every team in Europe should’ve been exploring, but, Liverpool managed to win the race to sign Chiesa towards the end of the transfer window.

Chiesa is a top player, but he’s not necessarily someone Bayern Munich needed this summer.
