The transfer window is upon us, and that means that we’re going to see all sorts of rumours over the next few months.
Indeed, there’s going to be tons of speculation, hearsay and rumour doing the rounds over this period, and, as ever, not all of it will be reliable.
This week, there were rumours about Darwin Nunez potentially leaving Liverpool to go to Turkey, but it may be best to take those with a pinch of salt.
Speaking on the Blood Red Podcast, Theo Squires has touched on these rumours surrounding Nunez, and it’s fair to say that the journalist isn’t giving them much credence, claiming that these stories are nothing short of absolutely ridiculous.

Darwin Nunez rumours are ridiculous
Squires spoke about these Nunez reports, claiming that they simply aren’t true.
“It seems like it’s something that we could see happening in a few weeks or a few months’ time. It depends on the other pieces falling into place with Diaz and everything else. I saw rumours today about Darwin Nunez going to Turkey which is absolutely ridiculous, but it’s silly season isn’t it,” Squires said.
Turkish clubs can’t sign players like Nunez
While we have seen some big names go over to Turkey over the years, it’s very rare that clubs from the Super Lig sign any of these star players in their prime.
Nunez is only 25 years old, and after moving to Liverpool for £75m in 2022, Turkish clubs simply wouldn’t be able to afford him.
Of course, Nunez may well be a dream signing for these teams, but he’s not an attainable player.
Nunez has many years ahead of him playing at the very top level, and if he is to make a move away from Liverpool he’d surely be going to another top club to play at the highest level rather than dropping his standards and heading to Turkey – with all due respect.
