Dominic Calvert-Lewin has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle.

The Everton striker is said to be someone the Magpies are keen on along with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.

However, as always in the transfer window, there is conflicting information around this rumour, and speaking on The Fully Loaded Transfer Show, Pete Graves has shared a different side of this story.

What Pete Graves has heard about Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Newcastle

Graves shared what he’s heard about Calvert-Lewin.

“I can’t see that, can I just say that I can’t see that one. I think there was a time where there was an interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but I asked the question the following window, and that interest had gone away,” Graves said.

“I have a lot of respect for the journalist who said that, but, that would surprise me having had some of the conversations I’ve had about Calvert-Lewin.”

Calvert-Lewin isn’t what Newcastle need

Graves’ side of the story makes a lot more sense than the recent reports of Newcastle’s interest.

Let’s be real, Calvert-Lewin has been in terrible form for three seasons now, and you don’t earn a move to a club like Newcastle off the back of those performances.

It’s easy to understand why Newcastle were once admirers of Calvert-Lewin. After all, he was brilliant for Everton a few years ago under Carlo Ancelotti, but, now, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen that level of performance.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Newcastle did go for a striker this summer. After all, Callum Wilson isn’t getting any younger, but surely they’d want someone who has been in better form than Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin is a great player on his day, but it’s been a long time now since we’ve seen him perform at that level on a consistent basis.
