'Injury has healed': Craig Hope has some brilliant pre-World Cup news for Newcastle fans

Newcastle United have been given another boost with the news that record signing Alexander Isak is close to returning from injury.

The Swedish striker has been missing after making just a handful of appearances for the Toon. His hamstring had been seen as a bitter blow to Newcastle initially. However, Eddie Howe last led the Mags into the top four and St James’ Park is a happy place ahead of the World Cup.

And in even more positive news for the club, journalist Craig Hope has offered some positive news when it comes to Isak. Taking to Twitter just now, Hope revealed that Isak has now recovered from the injury and Newcastle are looking to get him playing in December’s friendlies.

Indeed, Eddie Howe has also confirmed it’s good news with Isak.

“I’m not sure whether he’ll train with us initially,” Howe said. “I think he had a scan the other day on his injury and it looks good, it looks like it has healed. Now the process starts of building him up and making sure he’s robust enough to come through training,” Howe told Newcastle World.

Certainly, it appears Isak is on course to boost Newcastle’ season. For Eddie Howe, it will feel like a brand new signing without having to go and spend again.

TBR’s View: Isak injury news a massive boost for Newcastle

There’s no doubt Newcastle were dealt a cruel hand when Isak went down injured earlier in the season. He’d made a fine start and looked to be a player capable of taking them to new levels.

Since then, as we know, Newcastle have coped remarkably well. But getting Isak back from injury is massive for Eddie Howe and will be like a new signing.

If Isak can get up to speed quickly and get firing, then that top four spot could well a reality.
