Italian journalist Nicolo Schira claims on his website that Newcastle United have seen a ‘very attractive’ offer to sign Torino star Andrea Belotti rejected. The Italy international is out of contract at Torino in the summer.

Belotti, 28, is enduring a tricky season at Torino. The Serie A side’s skipper has suffered two serious injuries so far, both to do with his knee. It has seen Belotti manage to play in just nine of 19 Serie A games, missing five for both knocks.

He only has two goals in his nine league games – but Belotti is renowned as one of Italy’s best no.9’s. Indeed, he has scored 107 goals in 238 games for Torino since joining the club back in the summer of 2015.

Belotti, once compared to Harry Kane by Joe Hart, is out of contract in the summer. Schira claims that Newcastle have made an offer to sign him on a free transfer, but the financially impressive bid has been turned down by Belotti.

Belotti rejects Newcastle: Ideal competition for Wilson up top

One of Newcastle’s best players is ex-Bournemouth striker Wilson. The striker has been superb for Newcastle since joining the club in the summer of 2020, scoring 18 goals for the Toon in 43 games.

Belotti, though, is another level up. Boasting 41 caps for Italy, Belotti at his best is one of the most-lethal centre-forwards in European football. While Wilson is crucial, signing Belotti would form a brilliant front two.
