A respected journalist in Ecuador has suggested Leeds United will not be signing Felipe Caicedo this summer.
As reported by Imperio this weekend, Marcelo Bielsa is said to be a fan of the player. It was suggested he was readying a raid on former club Lazio to secure his services.
It was recently reported by LaLazioSiamoNoi that the Biancocelesti were ready to sell Caicedo this summer for a fee in the region of €9 million (£8 million). Therefore, Leeds seemingly know the price it would take to sign him and he is available.

But it seems this may not be the case.
Juan Carlos Santos, a broadcaster in Ecuador, has suggested there is ‘no interest’ in Caicedo on his personal twitter account. Translated, he stated Caicedo ‘is not what Bielsa looks for in his attack’.
This perhaps confirms what many Leeds fans probably thought when they first saw the story break this weekend.
Last summer, Leeds were linked with Caicedo. That came to nothing and on this occasion, it seems to be the same story.
That should not be a surprise. Caicedo turns 31 this season and at £8 million would have been a significant financial splurge from the Whites.
Corriere dello Sport reported earlier this week about Caicedo’s future. As relayed by TMW, the striker will not sign a new deal at Lazio, with his current contract expiring next summer.
It was reported the striker wanted pay parity with the likes of Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic at the Stadio Olimpico. Leeds would not have been able to offer anywhere near such a wage.
The same report suggested China or the UAE as Caicedo’s next destination, where such a pay-packet will not be an issue.
But it certainly seems Caicedo will not be on his way to Elland Road this summer.
