Journalist Rory Smith has suggested on The Monday Night Club that Arsenal may be the most likely Premier League side to sign Paulo Dybala this summer.

Dybala is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season. Reports have claimed that he has rejected a new contract with Juventus.

It is a big blow for Juve. He has scored eight goals and provided five assists in Serie A this season. In total, he has 161 goal involvements in 283 games for the Old Lady following his £23.4 million move. He is also four away from bringing up the century in Serie A.

Arsenal and Tottenham are amongst his admirers. They have reportedly asked to be kept informed of his situation over the coming months.

The Gunners will definitely sign at least one striker this summer. And clearly, signing Dybala would be a superb piece of business given that he will be available on a free transfer.

Interestingly, Smith has run through the runners and riders in the race for the Argentinian. And he suggested that Arsenal may ultimately be the ones to watch in the battle for Dybala.

“He’s not really a high presser, so I suspect that rules out Liverpool and even City. I suspect City will sign Erling Haaland, so I expect that’s their striking option sorted,” he told The Monday Night Club.

“United he would be high profile and extremely talented, but is that what United need? To go and think he’s available, let’s sign him. That’s not worked well for nine years, so my understanding is that they should go and take a different approach.

“He’s a brilliant footballer, Dybala, he’s wonderful to watch. Maybe Arsenal would be the best bet, I guess.”

Arsenal signing Dybala would be massive statement

Some will have their concerns about Dybala. He turns 29 in November. And he has not been as prolific over the last four seasons.

However, there is surely no question that he would be an amazing signing if the Gunners won the race. He is a player with world-class ability when it clicks for him.

Perhaps there would not be too many better ways for Arsenal to celebrate a potential Champions League return than to announce the arrival of Dybala for the upcoming campaign.
