It’s gone a bit quiet on the striker front for Arsenal as of late.

In recent months, links to the likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen were in the headlines every single day, but now, there isn’t much talk of Arsenal signing a new centre-forward this summer.

Speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has been discussing Arsenal’s search for a new striker, and he’s noted how a number of the Gunners’ high-profile targets now seem to be out of reach.

Interestingly though, Kay said that he’s heard a little whisper that Jonathan David could be someone Arsenal go in for, but he’s not fully checked out how reliable that information is just yet.

This comes not long after David was linked with a move to Tottenham.

Jonathan David to Arsenal may be possible

Kay shared what he knows about the £25m man.

“All the forwards they were watching and stuff, people like Gyokeres, they want £100m. I think now Arsenal have gone in another direction to spend money in midfield or on the wings,” Kay

“The big money players are starting to dwindle away. At the moment there’s not really anybody. There’s a small rumour about Jonathan David, but I can’t say too much about that at the moment because I haven’t looked into it enough.”

David wouldn’t suit Arsenal

Jonathan David is a talented striker, but he’s not exactly what Arsenal are looking for.

David is much more of a striker who will stretch a backline using his movement rather than a striker who will drop and link up play in the way a Gabriel Jesus or a Kai Havertz would.

David doesn’t really seem to suit the way Mikel Arteta wants his forwards to play, and that’s something that the Gunners need to keep in mind when pondering this move.

Don’t be shocked if Arsenal pass up on the opportunity to sign David this summer.
