Journalist has been hearing ‘some whispers’ about what Arsenal are planning after Benjamin Sesko news

It now seems as if Arsenal still have a plan up their sleeves following Benjamin Sesko’s decision to remain at RB Leipzig this summer.

Chased by the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, 21-year-old Sesko has been one of Europe’s most talked about names of late.

Arsenal were thought to be in pole position to sign the striker, who perfectly suited Mikel Arteta’s plans to find an understudy to Kai Havertz.

However, following Erling Haaland’s example, Sesko is set to sign a new contract at RB Leipzig according to Fabrizio Romano.

Of course, given how intense Arsenal’s interest appeared to be, many supporters of the club are now wondering – what next?

Arsenal aren’t keen to sign a superstar striker this summer, a move that simply doesn’t suit their budget or the progress of Havertz.

So perhaps that may lead fans to believe that either Ajax’s Brian Brobbey or Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee are sensible alternatives.

Although, judging by an update shared by journalist Dean Jones on X, this Sesko news may not be a surprise to Arsenal.

Arsenal have been deliberately letting Benjamin Sesko rumours continue

Sharing his update on X on Tuesday, Jones shared some ‘whispers’ he has been hearing regarding Arsenal’s plans over the weekend.

He said: “There had been some whispers over [the] weekend that Arsenal were happy to let the Sesko rumours keep flying as they were doing other work behind the scenes.”

Of course, this will be welcome news to Arsenal fans, who will trust the club’s decision making by now.

Many were frustrated when it was reported that Arsenal sent a bid for Sesko that was below his release clause, believing the club were dithering.

But by now, Arteta and Edu should have earned the trust of fans – given the duo have brought the club this far.

And although the beginning of this transfer window has perhaps been a disappointing one from an Arsenal perspective, with Arsenal also walking away from deals for Newcastle United pair Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, there’s still plenty of time to go.

Perhaps the club will need to get creative to get the most out of this summer’s window.

And after the success of signing Havertz last summer, Arsenal might be tempted to repeat that same trick
