Journalist Duncan Castles is reporting that Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing Leicester City speedster Demarai Gray.
Journalist Castles has explained that Spurs are interested in the attacker, albeit there is a lot of competition for his signature.
He added an interesting point though that Premier League and Europa League club Leicester believe that Gray will end up at Spurs.
“I’m told that at Leicester they believe that he will be moving to Tottenham Hotspur,” Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast (24mins).
“My understanding is that there is an interest from Tottenham, but that is not a guaranteed deal, he has interest from other Premier League clubs, there is also significant interest from overseas.
“A decision will be made as to where the best opportunity to develop his career is going forward once he’s in a position to properly talk to the clubs.”
Gray, who earns £55,000-a-week (Spotrac), is a talented individual that was once drafted into the senior England squad without earning a cap and has had some brilliant moments in a Leicester shirt.
But the 24-year-old winger is currently out of favour with Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers, making just one first-team appearance all season across all competitions.
The left-winger does have stiff competition for places at the King Power Stadium, but he must be disappointed not to be earning more minutes.
Spurs should be looking in the market for one of two additions come January if they are still at the top of the Premier League table, as manager Jose Mourinho should feel his team have a chance of winning silverware this season either domestically or in Europe.
But Leicester winger is hardly the type of signing they need despite his explosive pace, as he’s struggling for confidence right now and has been inconsistent in his Leicester career.
Spurs also have a depth of talent in wide positions with the likes of Heung-Min Son, Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, Erik Lamela and Jack Clarke.
