Arsenal could be in prime position to sign German winger Leroy Sane in the next few windows thanks to the presence of Mikel Arteta.
That’s the opinion of journalist Pete O’Rourke anyway, who has told GiveMeSport that Arteta being manager of Arsenal could give the the upper hand.
Sane has been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich recently. Despite being on a hefty £320k-a-week in Munich, Sane has struggled to produce as consistently as he’d have wanted. That has seen reports claim Sane is wanted at Arsenal and others, after he shone for Man City under Pep Guardiola.

Of course, Sane worked with Arteta while at City with Pep. And O’Rourke believes that could help the Gunners, if they do indeed go for Sane.
“I think it could only help, if there’s any potential move for Leroy Sane, if he knows people that he has previously worked with, like Mikel Arteta,” O’Rourke told GiveMeSport.
“I’m sure it will come into his thinking if he wants to leave Bayern Munich, and he will definitely seriously consider a move to Arsenal because Arteta’s there, and the players that he’s played with as well.“
Sane was recently praised by Peter Schmeichel for his impact for Germany. Of course, he could do little to prevent an early World Cup exit for the European giants.
TBR’s View: Sane could be just the ticket for Arsenal
Leroy Sane has a lot of things about his game that would suit Arsenal. He’s quick, direct, used to the press after playing under Pep, and can play either side.
O’Rourke’s comments here about Arteta’s influence are interesting. For such a young manager, the Gunners boss does seem to have those links with players. It’s a good thing for Arsenal, too.
If they did move for Sane, then he does help the squad. The trick is whether or not he improves the XI. Certainly, he’d need to show more than he has in recent seasons to warrant that call.
