Dean Jones has claimed that Arsenal have “definitely made inroads” towards signing Youri Tielemans.

The Gunners have been linked with the Leicester star for a number of months now.

It looks as though Arsenal had cooled their interest in Tielemans after signing Fabio Vieira.

But now, speculation linking the Gunners with the Belgium international has intensified again.

Fabrizio Romano recently commented on Arsenal’s pursuit of Tielemans.

He did so while discussing apparent interest from the Gunners in Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Speaking on the Que Golazo podcast, Romano said: “I see some of these names mentioned.

“Milinkovic-Savic is always mentioned in the Italian press.

“But Lazio want €75-80million (£68.7million) for Milinkovic-Savic, so it is a really complicated one.

“I am sure that Tielemans is a good opportunity because he is out of contract next summer.

“He is not extending his Leicester contract.

“So this is why Arsenal are exploring that possibility more than Milinkovic-Savic today.”

“Picking Arsenal all day long”

Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs claimed on The Football Terrace that Arsenal have already agreed terms with Tielemans.

“Arsenal can still return to that deal (to sign Tielemans),” said the journalist.

“They’ve already agreed terms, they’ve put a year’s worth of work into it.

“Manchester United, under Ten Hag, haven’t yet made any kind of serious move.

“I think, in a straight choice between Man United and Arsenal, Tielemans is picking Arsenal all day long.”

Now, Jones – writing on GiveMeSport – has provided an update on the state of play between Arsenal and Tielemans.

“Arsenal have definitely made inroads on this transfer, down to trying to discover what personal terms would be needed,” he said.

Tielemans, branded as an “incredible talent” by Michael Dawson, would tick plenty of boxes for Mikel Arteta.

And with his contract expiring next summer, Leicester are running out of time to cash in on him if he doesn’t pen fresh terms.
