Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Diogo Jota says he wouldn’t have Harry Maguire in the team over Conor Coady or any of the other defenders.
The Portuguese star has full trust in the former Liverpool man’s abilities and reckons he would not have the £80 million star (BBC Sport) over the 26-year-old.
When asked ahead of Monday’s game between Wolves and Maguire’s Manchester United, he said: “That is some question! I think Harry Maguire has a lot of quality but I know the players that we have in our team and I trust them.”
Maguire is perceived as one of the Premier League’s best centre-halves at the moment having impressed at Leicester to seal his world-record move to Old Trafford.
He was named man of the match against Chelsea, and Wolves will be hoping he is less solid at Molineux.
It is a nice show of loyalty from Jota to say he wouldn’t swap Coady for Maguire – although he is hardly going to say otherwise.
Coady has been brilliant for Wolves, with the captain now an accomplished Premier League defender.
He might not be as good as Maguire, but he can certainly have a better game than him tonight if Jota and co are on their games in attack.
