Liverpool host Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League tomorrow and Jurgen Klopp has a selection headache – Diogo Jota or Roberto Firmino.

The Reds have been phenomenal since the start of the season. They are yet to lose a game in all competitions and their performance against Manchester United in the Premier League last weekend showed the world what they’re all about.

Klopp will be hoping to see more of that when Brighton come to Anfield tomorrow. The German’s team selection is mostly straightforward, but if Sadio Mane and Mo Salah start on either flank, only one of Jota and Firmino can get the nod up front.

So, who should Klopp go with? Paul Merson has offered his advice.

Paul Merson: Firmino should start ahead of Jota

The Englishman wrote in his column on Sportskeeda: “Brighton are a decent team and can pull off an upset on their day. I think this is going to be a harder game for Liverpool than the one they played against Manchester United.

“Jurgen Klopp is spoilt for choice with his front three this season, and his forward line always seems outstanding irrespective of his team selection. While both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino are great options to have, I’d personally go with Firmino alongside Salah and Mane this weekend.

“Brighton play an expansive game and they do leave spaces down the channel for their opponents to exploit. I honestly can’t see Liverpool losing this game at the moment, and I’m going to go with another victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men.”

Football managers always have headaches when it comes to team selections, but the one Klopp has is something he’d prefer.

Having two excellent players in Jota and Firmino, who can do a job against every team in the world, is a blessing for any manager. We’re sure Klopp is delighted that they’re both fit, and he could well start both of them tomorrow.

Against Manchester United last weekend, Klopp went with a front three of Jota, Firmino and Salah. That worked brilliantly well and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t do that again tomorrow against Brighton.
