Manchester City could see a number of key personnel leave the club during the summer of 2026.

Enzo Maresca is replacing Pep Guardiola in the dugout at the Etihad Stadium, it has been shared.

Elsewhere, Bernardo Silva has ruled out a Benfica return amid his contract at City expiring, while John Stones and Josko Gvardiol are thought to have been looked at by Bayern Munich, with the latter considering it a ‘dream’ to return to the Bundesliga.

Josko Gvardiol considers it a ‘dream’ to play in the Bundesliga again

Gvardiol joined Manchester City from RB Leipzig in 2023 after previous suggestions of a Liverpool switch.

The Croatian has since made 121 appearances for the Sky Blues, primarily as a left-back or centre-back.

Now, journalist Christian Falk has been speaking about Bayern’s interest in the Man City defender.

He claims the Sky Blues have set a price tag of €70m-75m [£60.5m-64.8m], while the player himself would be open to returning to the German top flight.

Falk stated: “Gvardiol, he’s a very interesting player for them [Bayern]. However, he’s also a very expensive player.

“Manchester City would price him at €70m-75m [£60.5m-64.8m]. But the interesting thing is that I heard Josko Gvardiol himself would like to return to the Bundesliga.

“Internally, he believes it would be a dream to play in Germany again. There are many people around him pushing the defender to go to Bayern Munich.”

Bayern Munich’s interest in John Stones

Alongside Gvardiol, Falk also commented on Bayern possibly moving for Stones.

The Englishman is out of contract in the summer and is set to become a free agent, which may make him a more attractive option to some clubs.

However, Falk has suggested that Stones is not high on Bayern’s list of centre-back targets right now.

He said: “I think the links to John Stones at Man City aren’t the biggest question for Bayern Munich at the moment.

“The rumours are still there, but Bayern have to first sell players before they can build on the defence. Stones will be a free agent, and though this is an interesting proposition for Bayern, he’s not a young player any more. It could happen, but he’s not the first choice in Munich.”
