The faith in youth at Arsenal is small. Manager Mikel Arteta rarely gives chances to youngsters, instead focusing on the senior squad and hardly bringing in teenagers or young players from the academy.

London-born Mika Biereth, though, is a player that could change that trend. The 21-year-old has enjoyed a stunning season, despite going out on loan to two different sides – in Scotland and now, Austria.

Starring for Motherwell in the Premiership, the three-time Denmark U21 star had a hand in 11 goals in 15 games north of the border. Arsenal handed him a tougher task in January, in their eyes. Off to Austria.

The attacker joined Sturm Graz until the end of the season, a bigger challenge for Biereth – with his new side in the Europa Conference League when he joined. That didn’t phase him, excelling in Europe.

Playing 13 times in all competitions, Biereth has scored eight goals – laying on two assists. Three of those eight goals came in four Conference League matches. The latter of those assists, on Thursday night.

Biereth’s side took on Austrian giants Salzburg in the semi-finals of the Austrian Cup and against the odds, beat Salzburg 4-3. He got an assist in the game, helping to reach the final. He posted on Instagram.

Mika Biereth on fire ahead of cup final – enough for Arsenal?

Multiple clubs are said to be interested in signing Biereth this summer and that would suggest that the player, and Arsenal, believe – despite his form – he has little future at Arsenal, or chance of breaking in.

All Biereth can do, is continue to score goals in Austria – to put him into Arteta’s thinking, or in the shop window. Surely, he will be doing both. He could replace Eddie Nketiah, who is expected to leave Arsenal.

Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee, who is a target for Arsenal this summer, replied to his Instagram – telling Biereth he is “built for this”. Another, in Bayern’s Jamal Musiala also praised the Denmark wonderkid.
