Josh Windass comments on ex-Rangers teammate Pena and Kranjcar

Despite Josh Windass not playing for Rangers for almost two years, it appears that it was the Ibrox faithful who sent the large majority of responses after the midfielder sent out a tweet asking for questions as football continues to take a hiatus.

The Gers’ decision to sell Windass in 2018 divided plenty of supporters at the time. And with Steven Gerrard’s side enjoying mixed fortunes on the pitch since, it is probably a sale that will continue to split the fanbase.

Windass did not always manage to silence all of his critics. But it must not be forgotten that he scored 18 goals in all competitions in his final full season at Ibrox.

Unfortunately for the Englishman, he also played alongside a lot of signings who failed to take Rangers much closer to ending that wait for a league title.

A number of those signings arrived during Pedro Caixinha’s brief, but still damaging, spell in charge of the first-team.

And one of those most likely to go down in infamy is Carlos Pena. Pena cost Rangers £2.2 million, according to the Daily Mail. But he managed to make just 14 appearances in almost two years before his contract was terminated.

And when asked by a Rangers supporter what the Mexican was actually like, Windass summed up his thoughts with a one word response…

Meanwhile, Windass was also asked to name the most talented player he played alongside. And he responded by naming another former Rangers teammate…

Like Pena, Niko Kranjcar was a player that Rangers fans never got to see the best of. The Croatian however, had a terrible time with injury after joining the Gers and retired after his spell with the club.

But while he may not have made a huge impact on the pitch, it appears that the 35-year-old certainly made a big impression on Windass.
