Josh Onomah has backed Ryan Sessegnon to be a hit at Tottenham Hotspur, following the pair’s swap deal this summer.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur paid Fulham a fee of £25 million plus the midfielder in exchange to bring the talented left-footer to North London this summer.
Speaking to Fulham’s official site, Onomah has made it clear that he believes Sessegnon has the ability to become a star at Tottenham. He also suggested that Sessegnon helped him decide that a switch to Fulham was for him.
“I wish Sess the best as well. I know him, I know he’s going to settle in quickly and do well, and I wish all the best for him.
“He told me how great a club Fulham is, a massive club with great fans. He knows me, he knows my style of play, and he said I’d fit right in.
“That made me look forward to joining even more.”
It is great to hear from someone who knows Sessegnon personally and can, therefore, attest to his character following such a big move.
Doubts have been raised by some after the 19-year-old struggled to turn his Championship form into consistent success in the Premier League last season.
However, Sessegnon has long been on the shortlist for Tottenham and the club will feel that in time the player can become the star many have predicted he will.
Hopefully, Onomah’s assessment of the Tottenham newbie proves accurate.
