With the January transfer window just over a month away now, it is almost inevitable that Sunderland striker Josh Maja was going to be linked with a move away.
Maja has been in excellent form for Sunderland this season, leading the line as they search for promotion back to the Championship.
The 19-year-old has been in fine form in front of goal, scoring 11 times in 20 games so far in what is essentially his breakthrough season.
Prior to this year, he had played a handful of games for the Black Cats and only found the net once.
But with 10 league games already to his name, Maja is one of the hottest strikers in the third tier and he is really starting to show his potential.
Unsurprisingly, clubs from the Championship are taking a keen interest. Bristol City are said to be interested in Maja, according to their local media.
But rather than rush into a Sunderland exit, Maja would be best advised to stay at Sunderland – for now.
He is leading the line for a big club as they enter a new era and try to fight their way back up the Football League.
Moving to Bristol City would see him compete with a number of strikers and get less game time.
Plus, there are no guarantees he would be scoring at a similar rate at Ashton Gate.
At least until the end of the season, Maja needs to stay put at Sunderland and lead their promotion charge.
