Arsenal fans have become used to their board being silent and detached but Josh Kroenke seems determined to change that this season.
Kroenke has been speaking to the BBC about how the summer went, as well as giving his verdict on how well Unai Emery is getting on.
He said: “He’s doing a great job, has done a great job and is doing a great job. Turning the page from such a legendary manager and figure as Arsene was always going to be a difficult page to turn and we’ve turned it as elegantly as we could.
“Unai’s daily approach is fantastic. He’s out there on the pitch, he’s working, he’s watching video, he’s communicating and his daily energy and devotion to his work is fantastic – it’s exactly what we need.”
TBR’s View – This season is make or break for Emery
Absorbing the shock of losing Wenger and reversing the bad habits he had allowed Arsenal to slip into made Emery’s first season at Arsenal a struggle.
He could have got into the Champions League – but having failed to do so, Arsenal have recovered as well as could be expected in the transfer market and now it’s up to Emery to harness that optimism.
That means getting back into the top four and perhaps winning a trophy – he remains a Europa League specialist – otherwise Kroenke may not be so enthusiastic about Emery come May.
