Everton forward Josh King has shared to Norwegian outlet Dagbladet how he encouraged Martin Odegaard to join Arsenal when he saw reports linking the Gunners with a move for his countryman.
Odegaard has made a big impression at the Emirates after a somewhat underwhelming start. He scored in the North London derby, and has arguably been Mikel Arteta’s best player in recent weeks.

His performances have reminded everyone of how good the 22-year-old can be. And that may be particularly satisfying for King, as he outlined the role he played in convincing Odegaard to move to the Emirates.
“When I saw the rumour, I sent him a message that he should go to Arsenal,” he told Dagbladet. “Then he replied ‘are you sure, are you sure?’

“But the style of play and the club fit perfectly. I was so sure. Arsenal’s style of play, and Martin. I have friends who have played there and it fits perfectly.”
It would be no surprise to see Arsenal try and keep Odegaard beyond his loan. His form recently has been absolutely sensational.
It would be a huge statement if they could keep him. Attacking players are going to want to play alongside him if he stays put.
He has the potential to be a game-changing signing for the Gunners if Real Madrid show any willingness to let him go permanently.
But Arsenal will also be aware that his performances may work against them. If his current form continues, Real would be mad to consider offers for him this summer.
