Josh Bowler has responded on Instagram to an Everton fan when asked if he will return to Goodison Park this summer, as he continues to impress out on loan with Hull City – though the winger did admit he is an Arsenal supporter.
Bowler, 21, joined Everton after making just one senior appearance for London-based side QPR. He has since failed to appear for Everton’s first team, but has managed 35 outings for the club’s Under-23 side – and that convinced Hull last summer.
The Championship side chose to take Bowler to the KCOM Stadium on loan until the end of the season. He has since managed 26 appearances for Hull, but has scored just one goal and has only started 11 times.
Asked by an Everton supporter if he would return to the club at the end of the season, or secure a move, Bowler opened the door to a potential transfer by answering “who knows”. During the Q&A session, Bowler also admitted he is an Arsenal fan.
TBR’s view – Does Bowler have a chance at Everton?
It will be difficult for Bowler to break into the senior side under Carlo Ancelotti. Richarlison, Bernard, Theo Walcott, Moise Kean and more currently provide the options out wide, and Ancelotti is likely to be active this summer.
Bowler, who has been a somewhat fringe player at Hull is some way from breaking into Everton’s senior side despite being now 21 years of age. Another loan, or indeed a permanent move this summer is required.
