Joselu has told Spanish newspaper AS that it will be a “blast” at Newcastle United if a reported takeover finally gets over the line, having left the Toon just under a year ago to join Spanish side Alaves.
Joselu, 30, was one of Rafa Benitez’s poorer signings during the Spaniard’s reign at St. James’ Park. The striker, who has become somewhat nomadic during his career, managed just seven goals in 52 league and cup appearances for Newcastle.
He was sold last summer to Alaves where he has rediscovered his shooting boots, netting nine goals in 26 La Liga appearances as well as creating three more. Newcastle, meanwhile, are close to a takeover according to reports.
Sky Sports say there are only two things left to do – final checks by the Premier League and a transferral of funds from the Saudi-backed consortium to Mike Ashley. Joselu responded when asked about a potential takeover.
“Newcastle is a very big club with an incredible fans. The stadium is spectacular and if this new project goes well it will be a blast,” Joselu said, when asked about a potential Newcastle takeover in an interview with AS.

TBR’s view – What can Newcastle hope for in first season, post takeover?
Newcastle fans must become aware that this is a marathon, not a sprint, as Manchester City have shown. City tried to do everything as quick as possible to elevate the club into the European powerhouse they are now, and it initially failed.
Robinho was a poor signing, and it became clear very quickly that they must build slowly. Taking Newcastle into the top half of the table and into contention for Europa League qualification – and the chance of winning either the FA Cup or Carabao Cup would be an excellent first season.
That is, of course, if a takeover finally goes through.
