Jose Mourinho has admitted that it is a pity that he has not been able to play Joe Rodon more during the early stages of his Tottenham Hotspur career – in comments reported by Football London.
Spurs fans would have been forgiven for expecting Rodon to take some time to get up to speed following his arrival. He, of course, came from the Championship and is still perfecting his game.

The 23-year-old has, so far, made one Premier League start. And he has also featured three times off the bench in the top flight.
However, he was not signed in time to be registered for the group-stages of the Europa League. And having played for Swansea in the Carabao Cup this term, he was unavailable for Tottenham’s win over Stoke City on Wednesday.
And when asked about the Wales international, Mourinho confessed that he would have liked to have been able to use him more – before praising the two centre-backs who did play in the quarter-final.

“Yes, it is a pity he couldn’t play Carabao Cup or Europa League because that reduces opportunities for him to play,” he said, as reported by Football London.
“But I am happy with Davinson and Eric’s game. In the first half they were very good and strong and in the second half they had a difficult fight with direct football but they coped well.”
TBR View: May be frustrating for Rodon as Sanchez seemingly takes opportunity to impress
Rodon’s time will come. But as Mourinho’s comments perhaps show, his absence could make things slightly frustrating for the youngster.
Davinson Sanchez has been able to come in and stake a claim for a chance after some disappointing form earlier in the campaign.
It had appeared that Rodon was ahead in the pecking order in the league. But Sanchez has a lot more experience. And having seemingly impressed the boss with his latest display, the Colombian has perhaps given Mourinho a little food for thought.
