Jose Mourinho said that he would’ve made 11 changes at half-time if the rules permitted him to do so, as Tottenham lost 1-0 to Royal Antwerp in the Europa League.
One man he might have learned a lot about in Belgium is Ben Davies in the sense that he discovered how not to utilise him on the pitch.
There has been a notion that Davies might be viewed as a left-sided central defender in the wake of Sergio Reguilon’s arrival from Real Madrid in the summer.

A costly mistake by the Wales international during last night’s result, however, should see Mourinho consign his latest experiment to history.
Davies clearly isn’t comfortable playing as a central defender and the Tottenham boss will perhaps think twice before asking him to play there again.
Davies played at the heart of defence against LASK last week as Tottenham won 3-0.
Up against a physical front two last night though the £60k-a-week defender who has played 200 times for Tottenham really struggled.
Mourinho does have Joe Rodon to call upon and he will probably be the fourth choice central defender once his fitness is up to scratch.
Ambition
He, like Davies, arrived at Tottenham from Swansea and looks very much like a player for the future.
Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld are all in place at Spurs and really with that level of depth, Mourinho shouldn’t be calling on square pegs to play in round holes.

The Premier League title looks there for the taking this season to any team who can find some consistency.
Last night’s mistake hasn’t really hampered Tottenham’s progression in the Europa League and they should still qualify.
A mistake like last night’s in the Premier League could prove more costly though and it’s time for Mourinho to abandon the experiment.
