Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has opened up the possibility that Harry Kane could be out injured until next season.

The Sun quoted Mourinho answering a question about Kane’s recovery ahead of the FA Cup third round replay at home to Middlesbrough tonight.

Mourinho said: “We try the best we can.

“News on Harry we don’t have and if you ask me every time we come here the answer will be the same.

“We expect him to be out until mid-April, end of April, May, even next season I don’t know.”

TBR’s View – Throwaway comment or genuine prospect?

Mourinho threw in the prospect that Kane could be ruled out for the rest of the season and there’s always the chance it was a throwaway comment.

But Mourinho does tend to take great care over what he said in the press.

Is there a genuine chance that Kane’s season is over? That would likely throw his Euro 2020 hopes into severe doubt.

But – rightly or wrongly – Kane does always tend to come back earlier than expected from his injury problems.

And with that summer showpiece on the horizon, Kane will be doing everything he can to get back ahead of schedule.
