Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho gave big credit to Tanguy Ndombele after his latest performance.
Spurs recorded a 4-1 away win over Championship side Wycombe Wanderers on Monday night, but the scoreline did do the lower league side a slight injustice in the FA Cup fourth round tie.
The teams were level at 1-1 going into the closing stages, before Harry Winks’ 86th goal put the top-flight side above.
Mourinho then watched his mean wrap up the cup fixture in style late on.
Ndombele entered the action midway through the second-half and he made a huge impact as a substitute, showing the kind of fine form he’s currently in.
The 24-year-old central midfielder capitalised on a tiring opponent to get on the scoresheet twice.
Mourinho gave a special mention to the Frenchman for his cup display.
“He’s very creative, he’s one of these players that can break the balance,” Mourinho told BT Sport Football.
“Of course, they tried to get him man against man. Number 18 (Curtis Thompson) was man against man with him, but he’s always this kind of player that he can break that.”
Ndombele, who was out in the cold at the start under Mourinho, has transformed into a key individual for the Portuguese manager in recent months.
He is an all-action central midfielder that is getting an opportunity further forward lately, as he’s given licence to roam into the number 10 creative role and show off his goal threat.
His recent form means he’s now up to six goals in all competitions this season.
With such a reliance on Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son for goals, it looks like Ndombele is one man prepared to try chip in from midfield and he does it with real guile that gets supporters excited.
